Small Warriors on the prowl

Good morning all, fair warning I have only had one cup of the of that glorious substance known as coffee so far today.

Well the web page is up and running as of yesterday. And I was able to start working on another Small Warrior to add to the collection. This little guy is a 54 mm Celtic Chief produced by Andrea in metal. I have always enjoyed their figures the detail is high and very crisp.

It is nice to have the time once more to delve back into my hobby. For the past several months I have been distracted from it while attempting to finish up several projects that I had on the burner for more time than I care to think about. Such as this web page and the four books that I have recently published through Amazon, "The Book on Evil, Wicked, Mean, & Nasty", "The Fine Art of Getting Even", "The Wisdom of an Old Shadow Warrior" and "The Plucking of the Golden Years Goose". They are all available on Amazon in either Kindle or Paperback format. I have found out that the promoting and marketing of a book is really more work than the writing of the darn things!

So back to the Small Warriors, my Celtic Chief got all glued up yesterday and this morning at "Oh Dark Thirty" he received his first coat of primer. I usually like to give them at lease two thin coats of primer before I really start painting them. Now there are many paints out there that have been formulated just for figure and model painting but I have found them just a bit on the pricey side. I use the paints used on Ceramics, they have very fine pigments and are cheaper by far. The range of colors available are staggering and they are Acrylic water solvable paints so they are an easy clean up. I make my own washes using a bit of the chosen paint and denatured alcohol. Most of my detail work is with a 0000 pointed brush in Sable hair. Then they get a couple of coats of Testers dull coat as a fixative. I then go back in and using a clear gloss I add the "wet" areas such as the eyes, lips, medal, ect.

Prior to that I use multiple "dry brush" applications to do my highlighting.

I am going to add a few more photo to this post of some of my finished Army. Please keep reading my posts, and if there are any questions, throw me a comment or drop me an email.
